The 1990s was the decade of rapid globalization, the Soviet Union fell, the walls came down, the world sighed with relief and the aggression of the punk era, the bad hair dos and over the top face painting of the new romantics with the naff, depressing lyrics which made 80s pop so popular was over : MUSIC BECAME FUN AGAIN. Music had personality and was now lifting people’s spirits by not taking itself to seriously. Silly characters like 2 Unlimited, Snoop Doggy Dog and Dr Alban where selling platinum and Girl power took over the world with the Spice girls and at the same time Ace of base made waves telling stories of having more babies. Pop culture relaxed and put its hands in the air for the first time in 20 years. The 1990s gave us slang musical terms like Hip Hop Culture, break dancer, Euro pop, RnB and Technorave. We got the Play station, Backstreet boys, Oprah and the worlds first reality TV on MTVs “The real world”. Lets face it the FUN had begun….. and the world would never be the same again ….
